Smooth Out Geek & Gorgeous exfoliant – review

I’m super excited to introduce you to a new exfoliating acid that has been in my routine for several months. This is Smooth Out from Geek & Gorgeous, an exfoliating formula with 12% glycolic acid and lactic acid.

Smooth Out was born from the desire to give the skin an acid that increases collagen production. But at the same time to be as gentle as possible by increasing the amount of AHA acids. The combination of 10% glycolic acid + 2% lactic acid (PH 3.5 – 3.9) easily and effectively removes dead cells from the surface of the skin, giving it a healthy glow almost instantly.

This exfoliant is the most powerful in the Geek & Gorgeous range. I do not recommend trying it unless you have used these types of exfoliating acids in the past. If you are a beginner, you can try their softer exfoliants: Calm Down or Cheer Up. You should start using exfoliants at the beginning of the cold season, not in the warm season, and always put on SPF. Even if you stay indoors all day.

Smooth Out Geek & Gorgeous exfoliant promises:

  • increases the production of collagen in the skin
  • smooths fine wrinkles
  • reduces hyperpigmentation
  • increases the effectiveness of treatments and moisturizer you apply after.

I’ll start with a brief analysis of the ingredients because they are the first ones that should convince you to buy a product.

Tip: If through the list of ingredients you find perfume, irritants, essential oils, alcohol, then my advice is not to buy that product. I know, it’s a mistake I’ve made in the past. I began analyzing the list of ingredients in a cosmetic product, I chose the ones without the irritants, and my skin looks much better, more hydrated, and the rosacea has calmed down almost completely.

Key ingredients in Smooth Out Geek & Gorgeous

Glycolic acid

The most studied proven AHA acid that gently exfoliates the surface of the skin, but also increases the collagen production of the skin, and fades brown spots.

Lactic acid

The second most studied AHA acid, has a gentle exfoliating role, and is also a fantastic moisturizer.

Nopal cactus + yeast extract

A unique combination of cactus and yeast extracts containing low molecular weight peptides, carbohydrates and minerals, designed to reduce neurosensory irritation caused by the application of large amounts of AHA.

A natural polysaccharide extracted from the larch tree that reduces trans-epidermal water loss and amplifies the action of exfoliating agents.

A classic ingredient for the skin, it is an agent that provides the skin with hydration, soothing and protection.

Xylitylglucoside + anhydroxylitol + xylitol

A moisturizing trio based on sugar that increases the skin’s ability to hold water and improves the skin’s natural barrier.

Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer

A new generation of cross-linked hyaluronic acid, whose water retention capacity is several times higher than the already amazing water retention capacity of hyaluronic acid, which helps maintain skin hydration.

Geek & Gorgeous Smooth Out Exfoliant – impressions after use

As I said above, I have been using Smooth Out Geek & Gorgeous since November 2020. I apply it in the evening routine, three times a week. Like all exfoliating acids in the Geek & Gorgeous range, Smooth Out is a liquid (like water) that can be used as a toner immediately after removing make-up and cleansing the skin. It can be followed by other products; it even enhances their effects.

Fortunately, I did not experience purging while using Smooth Out exfoliating formula, maybe because my skin is used to acids. Now, after months of use, I can say that the hyperpigmented spots on the forehead have faded, the skin is much brighter, glowy. When you touch it, it’s like a baby’s skin, so smooth.

So far, I have not seen much improvement in fine wrinkles, but these effects can be seen after long periods, like retinol or SPF.

I noticed a slight tingling sensation immediately after applying Smooth Out on my skin, but it lasts for 10-15 seconds. I leave Smooth Out on my skin to work for about 20 minutes, then I move on to the moisturizing part of the evening routine.

Conclusions Smooth Out Geek & Gorgeous

I don’t think it’s a secret that I fell in love with the Geek & Gorgeous range of products. Smooth Out is one of my favorite products because:

  • it is gentle on the skin;
  • successfully attacks pigment spots;
  • the skin is more even, smoother and brighter;
  • the price is great, affordable.

Where to buy Geek & Gorgeous Smooth Out Exfoliant
